Educ 450: Instruction II: Standards & Assessment
My experience at Rocky Mountain High School enlightened my management and teaching techniques at the High School Level. I participated in a lecture and practicum within the classrooms of Rocky Mountain High School. We had the opportunity to exhibit the taught techniques within the actual classroom and regroup to reflect on the effectiveness.
Teacher Quality Standards
Standard 1: Demonstrates mastery of and pedagogical expertise in content

Since the quality standard states that I can demonstrate expertise in content, it seemed fitting that I put artifacts that demonstrate my knowledge in teaching as well as in art. My PowerPoint on the 4 C's shows my knowledge in teaching as I am explaining a teaching technique that helps students dive deeper into the topic. I included my first lesson plan to demonstrate my knowledge in art and specifically in assemblage sculpture. In this lesson, students were instructed about assemblage sculpture, why it is important, artists who work in this medium, and then got the opportunity to plan/build their own.
Standard 2: Establishes a safe, inclusive and respectable learning environment for a diverse population of students.

My setting and context for the documentation of my classroom within Rocky Mountain High School demonstrates my knowledge of an inclusive, welcoming environment. I articulate how my match up teacher is accomplishing this and how we differentiate to meet all of the students needs within our room.
Additionally, my first outside of class event was hosted by Girl Rising, which aims to strengthen women around the world. During this meeting, we had a guest speaker from the Larimer County Trafficking organization to talk about what we can do to prevent this devastating issue.
Standard 3: Plans and delivers effective instruction and creates an environment that facilitates learning for students

My Choice Animal Drawing Lesson had students very engaged and facilitated intrinsic motivation for learning. There were two prompts that students can choose from during this assignment which had students very invested in their works. Students also participated in a group brainstorming drawing activity where they passed around their drawing around their table. It looked very different by the time students got it back which got the students excited to begin their own illustrations.
Standard 4: Reflect on professional practice

My resume over the course of this semester has become more professional and polished. I have been engaged in activities such as AVID tutoring that will help strengthen my professional practice. Other opportunities I have looked for to increase my expertise and experience in the field are tutoring a seven year old girl different illustrating techniques.
My Data Analysis was also included in this section because within it I reflect on how effective my second lesson was and what can be done to increase the effectiveness.
Standard 5: Demonstrates leadership

My Management Plan demonstrates my ability to assume the leadership position that is necessary to be an effective teacher. I discuss my protocols for the classroom and how they will be enforced. My analysis of the Voyager Meeting for 10th grade also exhibits my ability to adopt leadership skills for students who may be struggling and need extra assistance. I plan to utilize techniques discussed during the meeting to help me differentiate for struggling students.

The reflections of my lessons also exhibit that I am dedicated to being a lifelong learner which will make me the best art teacher I am capable of being. It is important to reflect on how you are conducting yourself and your lessons to ensure you are doing the best to your ability.
